It has been a busy start to the year. I have spent much time attending community events and meeting with many of my constituents. First, let me wish everyone a happy early Texas Independence Day! March 2nd is the 186th anniversary of the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence at Washington on the Brazos. March 1st is also Election Day. Tomorrow is the 186th anniversary of the Texas Declaration of Independence signing at Washington on the Brazos. Let us thank God for the bravery of those freedom Fighters. Last month, I had the opportunity to tour several power plants in the Houston region. We were briefed on their compliance with new Texas legislation requiring winterization of all power plants in Texas. I had the honor of attending the Southbelt-Ellington Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Pictured is my friend and Chair of the Chamber, Marie Flickinger, who received an award for her years of service to the community. Last week I attended an event with Governor Greg Abbott. At the event, I met with several of my Houston area colleagues. I was honored to give a legislative update to the Texas Trucking Assocation- Houston Chapter. I attended the annual banquet of the Economic Alliance Houston Port Region. It was great to meet with these wonderful local leaders.
