Important HD144 Republican Runoff Information

For the Republican voters who live in House District 144, and for those who will share this information with their friends and family in HD144:

Early voting has begun in the House District 144 race.  I am strongly supporting Fred Roberts, and I want to tell you why.

Ken Legler and I went to Pasadena High School and graduated in the same year.  Ken and his wife, Barbara, and I were all in the PHS band together.  Ken and Barbara also sent their children to Harvest Christian Academy in the late 90's, when my son also attended Harvest, and I worked in the administration office.

Because of my long time friendship with Ken and Barbara, my husband and I met with them first to determine who we would support in the HD144 race.

**One of the first topics we discussed was illegal immigration, and Ken's first comment is that a fence won't work.  This is direct conflict with the plank of our platform on border security, which states that we urge the President to "build a physical barrier along the entire length of our country's border with Mexico , beginning with urban interface locations and appropriate monitoring."

**We talked about life issues.  Although Ken said he believes life begins at conception, he has a rather contradictory application of that belief when he says that abortion is acceptable within the first 90 days of conception for several exceptions.  He also believes that RU-486 used in the first 30 days of conception is not an abortion.

**Ken believes that you cannot legislate morality.  When asked about the expansion of gambling, he said he is 51% in favor.

**Ken has run for office (School Board) in the past and did not win.

For these and other reasons, I met with Fred Roberts, who I'd never known until after he filed for the HD144 open seat.  I was extremely impressed with Fred.

**On illegal immigration, Fred's issue positions line up with Republican values.  He actually took a trip down to the border and talked with those in charge so that he can work on border security from first-hand knowledge.

**Fred is 100% pro-life.  His only exception is to prevent the death of the mother.

**On the expansion of gambling, Fred says that's easy for him: "NO!"

**Fred has served on the Pasadena ISD School Board the last 15 years.  He has been re-elected every 3 years, so he knows how to run a political campaign.  He is the best candidate to defeat the Democrat challenger in November.

Fred is a Christian man of character and integrity.  He is more than just a Republican – he is a solid conservative that we can trust.  I've only known Fred a short few months, but I am proud to call him my friend, and a candidate worthy of your vote and support.

He is endorsed by State Rep. Robert Talton, who currently holds the seat, by John Hughey, his former Primary opponent, and by both SRECs in Senate District 11 (Dennis Paul and myself) as well as the SD11 Chair (Sheryl Berg).  He is also endorsed by The Link Letter and many other organizations.  I encourage you to check out Fred's website: www.fredfortexas.com

Early voting is now through Friday (April 4th).  The Republican Primary Runoff is April 8th.  As in all Primaries, never presume anything about your polling place.  Please go to www.harrisvotes.com to verify your polling locations and times.

Thank you for your consideration and time!
