District 129 Newsletter

As we end the second full week of the 87th legislature's first special session, the House of Representatives cannot conduct business due to a lack of quorum. We continue to be in session every day and await the return of our colleagues back to Texas.

Below I will share what has been going on during this unusual time. As always, if you would like to share your opinion or need assistance with a state agency, please do not hesitate to contact my staff or me. Our contact information is at the bottom of this newsletter.

God Bless,

Dennis Paul
State Updates
Governor Holds bill signing ceremony for the Gulf Coast Protection District
On Monday Governor Abbott hosted a ceremonial bill signing for SB 1160, which I sponsored. This bill created the Gulf Coast Protection District which will be the local sponsor for the coastal barrier project across Galveston Bay.
Meeting with Retired Teachers to Discuss House Bill which will provide a 13th check to retirees
Election Integrity
There has been a lot of confusion and misinformation in the media about House Bill 3. Below you will find a graphic describing the bill. My intention is that voting should be free, fair, and accessible to all who are eligible.
Earlier this week, I was lucky enough to meet with Dalto and James, who came to visit me at the Capitol as a part of their summer leadership camp.
Last week I was able to meet some amazing people at the Texas Capitol rallying to bring light to the atrocities going on in Cuba. As Texans, we stand with Cubans in their quest for freedom.
