District 129 Session Newsletter

This week our region was hit by an EF-3 tornado. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected in Pearland, South Belt, Pasadena, and Deer Park. Please do not hesitate to contact my office if you need any assistance.


On Thursday, Governor Greg Abbott signed a disaster declaration for Southeast Texas communities impacted by the storms.


The Texas House met on Tuesday and Wednesday as we continued to get organized for the 88th session.


It is an honor to serve you in the Texas House of Representatives.

Updates

In response to damages sustained by the recent tornado event, the City of Pasadena Office of Emergency Management announces the opening of the Joint Disaster Assistance Recovery Center at the Pasadena Convention Center. This partnership between the City of Pasadena and the City of Deer Park will assist residents in gathering important recovery resources and information. 


The Joint Disaster Assistance Recovery Center will be a hub for recovery information and resources from government agencies, local businesses, industry and non-profit organizations.

On Sunday, my house along with many others in District 129 celebrated the Chinese New Year. I want to wish all those who celebrate a year of abundance and prosperity.

Professional Engineers Day at the State Capitol


On Wednesday, I had the privilege of getting to meet with professional engineers from all over the state of Texas. As the only professional engineer in the state legislature this was a honor.

Also this week I was honored to be selected to serve on the Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institutes Board of Directors and was once again reelected as Vice President of the Texas Conservative Coalition's Board of Directors. 

University of Houston-Clear Lake Investiture of Dr. Richard Walker

Today the University of Houston- Clear Lake celebrated the investiture of its sixth president, Dr. Richard Walker. I was happy to be a part of it and look forward to working with President Walker in the future to better the lives of our students and educators.
