This week the Texas House passed HB2, the property tax relief act. House Bill 2 will provide over 17 billion dollars in property tax relief back to Texans. To learn more about it, see below.

Updates

House Bill 2

Today, the Texas House passed HB2, the property tax relief act. This important legislation will provide much-needed relief to homeowners and businesses across the state. Please see the attached one-pager or click HERE to view the bill.

House Bill 8

On Wednesday, House Bill 8 passed the House. HB8 changes the funding model for community colleges to an outcome-based funding model. This will improve funding for Texas' 50 community colleges and the 642,000 Texans who attend them.

January Tornado Update

Attached you will find a letter from Harris County Appraisal District Board of Directors Chairman Mike Sullivan regarding the information on the Temporary Disaster Exemption because the Harris Central Appraisal District has identified damaged property in your area.

According to the Texas Tax Code, A qualified property that has at least 15% property damage in a governor-declared disaster area can receive a temporary exemption of a portion of the appraised value of the property, which could reduce their 2023 property taxes.

The deadline for residents to file the application is May 11^th.
