LEGISLATION FILED BY REP. PAUL A sneak peak of the 85th Legislature - HB 944 seeks to create a Class B misdemeanor penalty for offense of the law already in existence: Election Code 31.092(d) permits County Chairs to supervise the conduct of a Primary Election, including the tabulation of results, as required by Chapter 172.
- HB 945 provides an allotment under the public school finance system for the cost of windstorm and hail insurance
- HB 946 Bill increases the gross weight to 7,500 pounds, meaning larger trailers would fall under the inspection criteria, but more boats and campers would be just below the requirement. This would most easily mirror other regulations
- HB 1064 takes the appropriate steps to modify the method in which a municipal management district is created.
- HB 1197 bill would increase from 14 to 30 days the time a temporary license applicant has to complete the required 40-hour training.
- HB 1702 bill requires that their Date of Birth be included on the Ballot By Mail application form so that the Ballot Board can verify their eligibility.
- HB 1165 implements a property tax cut plan and more consistency in terms of the amount of tax people pay. Changes the M&O portion of a taxing unit from 1.08 to 1.06
- HB 1966 protects CHL holders that rent/own in common areas of condo and apt complexes.
- HB 2015 allows County Chairs access to the information needed to contact those who are willing to work elections for their Primaries.
- HB 2270 addresses requirements of service and duties of certain election officers
- HCR 87 Encouraging the Pentagon to realize the significant savings by relocating the United States Africa 2 Command (AFRICOM) from Germany to Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base in Houston, Texas

The students were allowed to pick one person in either the Texas House or Senate and find out as much information as they could on them. They were then told to create a poster to display the information that they found. |
