Representative Paul today attended the Texas National Day of Prayer Breakfast in Austin where Governor Abbottt delivered remarks and joined in prayer with Texans from across the state. FATHER BOB BARRAS LEADS INVOCATION ON THE HOUSE FLOOR

Rep. Paul stands behind Father Bob Barras during the opening invocation.
Representative Paul's pastor, Father Robert Barras from St. Bernadette Catholic Church offered the invocation for the regular session of the 85th legislature on April 28 in the House of Representatives. Every session, each representative has the opportunity to have a clergy member from their district visit the State Capitol and lead the invocation before the House convenes. We were honored to have Father Barras as the Pastor of the Day.

SENATE BILL 4 PROGRESSES

After a full day of debate Wednesday and continuing into Thursday morning, Senate Bill 4 known as the Sanctuary Cities bill passed the Texas House of Representatives. SB 4 prohibits local governments from preventing police from enforcing immigration laws.

The bill now heads back to the Senate Chamber, where senators have the option to accept the changes the House made or call for a conference committee in which members from both chambers iron out the differences.
REP. PAUL PASSES ELECTION LEGISLATION OUT OF THE HOUSE

Pictured: Rep. Paul introducing his amendment.
Last week Representative Paul had the opportunity to amend election legislation that he presented in the House elections committee as an amendment to a house bill during a convened session of Representatives.  Due to multiple legislative deadlines approaching, amending these bills onto another bill further along in the process allows for full passage in the House chamber.  The amendment contained all the language vetted before the Elections committee for Representative Paul's HB 2270, taking care of several election issues. The most important item was addressing the April 17th Attorney General's opinion that all Election Judges and workers must sign a Constitutional Oath and have it notarized in order to work in elections.

TEXAS GENERAL LAND COMMISSION SENDS LETTER TO PRESIDENT TRUMP
It is written:

"We write today to urge you to include in your national infrastructure plans a coastal barrier system for the Houston/Galveston bay area. The Texas coast possesses an extensive port system that is crucial not only to the United States' economy but also to our national security. The coastal barrier system will require $15 billion in federal funds to protect this vital area. We are currently working with the Texas state legislature to ensure Texas will financially support the operations and maintenance cost for the coastal barrier system."
