2018 Filing for House District 129

Serving the people of House District 129 has been a fantastic and humbling experience. Eliza and I thank all of you for the support and prayers needed to represent the district in Austin. As many of you know, legislative session is a fast paced and extremely busy event with a lot of work to do in a short period of time. I enjoy the way the Texas system works; most of the members have full time jobs that we have to get back to, and we are glad to serve and get the work done in an efficient manner. On November 11th, I filed to continue to represent you in Austin.

Boeing Announces More Than $50 Million in Grants to Support Nonprofits Worldwide
As a part of house district 129, we are fortunate to have such a generous company to invest not only globally but right here in our local district. On November 2, 2017, Boeing announced more than $50 million in grants to more than 500 nonprofit organizations across 50 countries. These annual contributions include a three-year commitment of more than $25 million in support of veterans' recovery and rehabilitation programs and transitional services. According to Boeing, charitable grants are geared toward developing tomorrow's innovators through investment in the skills required in today's modern workplace, and supporting military veterans and their families transitioning into the civilian workforce. At a local level, Boeing investments address unique challenges and issues that are critical to those communities where our company operates. Boeing's local community investor Dayni Alba said that in Houston, that includes partnerships with organizations such as Space Center Houston that is helping inspire the next generation of rocket scientists and engineers and Grace After Fire that is helping veterans in our community. She also pointed out that Boeing's partnerships with these organizations go beyond financial support to include 3,800 Boeing employees in Texas who regularly give time to mentor kids and make an impact in their communities. I am thankful to represent and collaborate with such generous community partners that not only invest in our district's future financially, but also use their personal time in the communities in which they live and work.

Clear Brook HS Marching Band

Clear Brook HS marching band celebrated the end of marching season with a BBQ dinner and concert. This award-winning band is just one of the many spotlights of Clear Creek ISD. These students are not only top performers in band, but they are also top performers academically. The majority of students are seeking careers in STEM fields. I was glad to participate in their celebration and meet the great students, parents and band directors of Clear Brook High School. Congratulations to you and in your future endeavors!

Thank you for your service, Veterans!

On November 11, 2017, we honored the men and women who have served our country in the armed forces. Eliza and I had the opportunity to give honor to one of our own constituents, Dodeus Manolescu, who served in the Army Reserves from 1985-1993. We would like to thank James Guthrie and Jerry Roth (not pictured) with Thrivent Financial for hosting the event.
