2008 National Convention Page Program
The Republican Party of Texas will offer two outstanding high school or college students the opportunity to serve as Convention Pages at the 2008 Republican National Convention, to be held at the Xcel Energy Center in Minneapolis - St. Paul, Minnesota, September 1 - 4, 2008.
The mission of the Convention Page Program is to provide a positive educational experience for participants, foster a new generation of Republican leaders through service and assist in the overall operation of the National Convention. Pages will have a unique opportunity to see first-hand the workings of a national political convention and interact with national GOP leaders.
The State GOP is currently accepting applications from students aged 16 to 25. Applicants will be judged on school achievements, extra-curricular activities and a 500 word essay on "The importance of Young Texans being Involved in the Political Process."
Rules for Applying
All applications must be received by Republican Party of Texas ("RPT") Chairman Tina Benkiser no later than April 14, 2008. Pages must be between the ages of 16 and 25 years old at the time of the National Convention.
There are two parts to the application:
- Write a 500 word essay on "The Importance of Young Texans being Involved in the Political Process." Discuss the significance of political involvement and ways young people can and should participate.

Rules for Participation
Pages must be between the ages of 16 and 25 years old at the time of the National Convention.
Pages must arrive in Minneapolis one day prior to the start of the Convention (arrive on Saturday, August 30, 2008) and remain until the morning of Friday, September 5, 2008. Pages are expected to attend orientation, work a full day and attend all scheduled events and assigned activities. Those who do not report for scheduled activities will be asked to leave.
Pages will be assigned a roommate and will be housed at a nearby hotel during the week. Upon acceptance, further information on the specific hotel and transportation fees will be sent.
ALL EXPENSES INCURRED BY A PAGE ARE THE PAGE'S RESPONSIBILITY. Pages are responsible for their own respective airfare, lodging, meals, and all other expenses that may be incurred by virtue of participating in the National Convention Page Program. The Republican Party of Texas will NOT be responsible for any expenses incurred by the selected applicants.
Page duties will be assigned by the Republican National Convention. Assignments may include acting as floor runners, assisting with caucus meetings, and distributing official Convention materials. Pages are not assured floor credentials, but the tasks they perform at the convention will determine their access during any given session.
Pages are expected to behave in an appropriate, professional manner and are responsible for their own behavior at all times. The Republican Party of Texas, the 2008 Republican National Convention, and the Republican National Committee assumes no responsibility for the actions of pages.
Final acceptance into the program must be confirmed by the Republican National Convention Committee.
