Economic Development Reform Bill

 

House Bill 26 increases accountability and transparency of the state's economic development incentive programs and policies while ensuring our programs are working in an efficient and effective manner so that Texas remains a leader in economic development.

HB 26 Bullet Points

Eliminates the emerging technology fund.

Creates the Governor's university research initiative.

Creates an economic incentive oversight board that will examine economic development programs under the office of the Governor, Comptroller, and Department of Agriculture where the state exercises discretion and creates a schedule for evaluation.

Restructures the enterprise fund.

Renames the Major Events Trust Fund to the Major Events Reimbursement Program.

Standardizes the application process for economic development incentive programs.

My staff and I along with the support of constituent and stakeholder involvement have been working hard to pass bills through the legislative process.  With just over five weeks left in the regular session, the clock is ticking.  Below is a list of bills currently on the move that I have authored.  To review all legislation filed during the 84th regular session please visit the

HB2921: Relating to authorizing a recreation and wellness facility fee at the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
HB3097: Relating to the governance and operation of municipal management districts.
HB3310: Relating to the funding policies, actuarial valuations, and reporting requirements of certain public retirement systems.
HB3872: Relating to continuing education requirements for an insurance agent, insurance adjuster, or public adjuster; amending provisions subject to a criminal penalty.
HB3910: Relating to completion of continuing education requirements for insurance agents and adjusters.
HB3911: Relating to the appointment by insurers, health maintenance organizations, and their agents of holders of a temporary agent's license.
