| 84th Legislative Discussion Last week on the house floor I passed local House Bill 1585. HB 1585 is a hotel occupancy tax that is bracketed to Nassau Bay and only affects the usage of local hotel tax revenue. HB 1585 provides city and county leaders the ability to allocate 45% of local HOT revenue to fund economic development projects that enhance public areas in-and-around hotels and convention centers. This includes promoting the visual appeal of public areas, street projects, landscaping, lighting, streetscaping, waterscaping, signage, and underground utilities. HB 1585 now goes before the Senate for debate. Below is a table with numbers on the amount of legislation debated by the Texas Legislature thus far.
