District 129 Session Newsletter


This week the Texas House met on Tuesday and Wednesday as we continue to get organized for the 88th session.


On Tuesday, Governor Greg Abbott and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick were sworn in for their third terms in office.


On Wednesday, the House was honored to be visited by the Commissioners Trophy and two members of the World Series Champion Houston Astros, Ryan Pressley and Jason Castro!!


Finally, the House filed HB 1, which is the base budget for the state and the starting point for future budget discussions. You'll be able to read more about this below.

State Updates

HB 1 Filed


The Texas House of Representatives introduced its version of the budget on Wednesday. The total funding for House Bill 1 is $288.7 billion, and it meets the needs of our state while maintaining our principle of fiscal responsibility.
