Governor Abbott Issues Statement On Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday
 
During the 84th Legislative Session, Governor Abbott signed SB 904 into law, allowing for sales tax exemptions on emergency supplies from 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, April 23rd until midnight on Monday, April 25th.  To learn more about this legislation please read the Governor's press release here.

Clear Lake Theatre Time Capsule Event.

On April 20, 1966, a time capsule was buried at the new Clear Lake Theatre during its grand opening. The contents of the capsule were to be opened 50 years to the day and given to Freeman Library.  Information and images from the day of the capsule's burial, April 20, 1966, as well as its removal, April 20, 2016 are available to be viewed here.
