| Representative Paul appointed to House Committees On February 4th, Texas House Speaker Joe Straus announced the membership of House committees for the 84th Legislature. In making his appointments, Speaker Straus considered the needs and priorities of rural and urban areas in every region of the state, as well as the diversity of the House membership.
I was named to two very important committees, House committee on Insurance and the committee on Pensions. The committee on Insurance has jurisdiction over all matters pertaining to insurance and the insurance industry, as well as the following state agencies: the Texas Department of Insurance, the Texas Health Benefits Purchasing Cooperative, and the Office of Public Insurance Counsel.
The committee on Pensions addresses benefits or participation in benefits of a public retirement system and the financial obligations of a public retirement system; and the following state agencies: the Office of Fire Fighters' Pension Commissioner, the Board of Trustees of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, the Board of Trustees of the Employees Retirement System of Texas, the Board of Trustees of the Texas County and District Retirement System, the Board of Trustees of the Texas Municipal Retirement System, and the State Pension Review Board. I believe I can make an impact on issues that directly relate to the citizens of Texas and our future. I look forward to hearing from constituents on related issues and am honored to serve you in the Texas House. |
